Bo Derek Before and After

Puerto Penasco Spring Break

I haven't been into the blogging thing lately. I blame facebook for my diversion. I'm going to try to make a come back. Here is my first attempt.

I'll start with our Spring Break vacation to Puerto Penasco, Mexico. We went with our pals the Morck family. We stayed at Ang's parent's beautiful condo at the Sonoran Sky resort.
The condo was right on the beach.... we took advantage of the vendors selling local crafts.

When we weren't hanging at the pool, we went to old town Rocky Point and did some shopping.
Isabelle, Carly and Caroline each got a hand crafted Mexican dress
Everyone who knows Keith....knows that he loves a strong cup of coffee. He found a local roaster who helped him pick out a bag of beans. Funny thing...the local roaster was actually from Woods Cross, Utah. Ha ha! Who knew that we would have to go to Mexico to find a fellow coffee lover from Utah.
Here is the view of the pool from our condo's balcony
We went to the local acquarium (Cet-Mar Acuario). What a great experience of Mexico. Last year we went a California acquarium which set us back $45 per person and we stood behind lines of people looking at the animals behind glass. In Mexico, it cost us $4 per person and if we paid $20 more, a group of 8 can get inside with some of the animals. Crazy!

Snapping Turtles.....keep in mind that there were no signs stating beware, etc. It wasn't until we had our hands all over these turtles that a worker finally says...."oh yeah, they bite hard and can take off fingers".... ha ha!
Here was the star of the Cet-Mar, Arturo. He had a ton of personality!
More ocean views........
Here is a photo of Keith and Russell enjoying a cerveza....
We spent most of our days hanging at the pool or under the palapa... the kids loved it.
The kids waving to us from the condo.
More shopping. It is amazing that I could even get suitcase to shut.

Local bar....I can help but to think that is American owned. Hmmmm
Horse back riding on the beach....comes with a straggling goat.
We spent an evening listening to music at La Playa Bonita. This was a place that was recommended by a few tourists. When we got there, the music was a bit "loungy" and we were the youngest people in the place by 20 or 30 years. Most of the people there were retirees hanging out from Arizona. It was still a good time. We managed to do the Macarena a few times and share some laughs.
I gave our waiter a hard time. I called him Guapo....which was true! Shameless flirting from an old married lady. Ha ha!Here are some of my new buds that we met at La Playa Bonita.

Here is Jean enjoying the sea food.
Shrimping boats

Despite all of the beauty of the Mexican beaches, it is hard to ignore the poverty. We made an acquaintance of a beach vendor named Rosa. Rosa is 20 years old and cannot read or write. She has never been to school and plans on spending her days braiding hair for a living. I got tears to my eyes when I watched the girls give up their last $5 to Rosa.

Caroline and Carly got their hair braided from Rosa and got their "8 year old Bo Derek on"

Here is Keith and Rusty playing at the beach. We teased them that gay marriage is legal in Mexico. Ha ha!

Crazy or motivated?

Kari and I are training for the SLC Marathon in April....which means that all of our training is done in winter weather. Every time we head out in the snow and slush....we laugh and ask ourselves....are we crazy or motivated? It is seriously a toss up!

I love our sunsets.........

Every night we are lucky enough to watch the most beautiful sunsets from our living room window. These are just a few that we have taken pictures of lately.

Happy Birthday Bro

Last weekend we made a quickie trip to Idaho to celebrate my brother's birthday. He's a whopping 42 now!! Happy Birthday!

Last minute Super Bowl Soiree

Will the Vacuum Enthusiast

Are we lucky or what? Our friend Will loves to vacuum. He is a future NASA Engineer. At a mere 3 years old, he is infatuated with vacuums and how they work. He is so "into" vacuums that he calls us up and wants to vacuum my house. Today he came over and gave the Dyson a whirl around the upstairs AND downstairs. He was downstairs for a good 15-20 minutes. Will even says thank you to me when he leaves..... I need to figure out a way for him to get into how the dishwasher works. Although I might need to start paying him...cause I might start feeling guilty.

Ski School Extravaganza

Carly and her friend Caroline started ski school today at Snow Basin.

It was mighty cold up there on the mountain.

Here is our little Suzie Chapstick...remember her?

Happy New Year 2009

2008 is now a memory...we look forward to 2009 and good times ahead. To ring in the New Year, we had the Morcks over to celebrate. We had some hot tub time.

Some confetti throwing time... Apple cider toasting time...

And finally, some Wii and Rock Band time....

A few New Year Resolutions:
1) To run the Salt Lake City Marathon
2) To lay on a warm beach when the snow is still falling in Utah
3) Save more money
4) To start my coupon mission again
5) To become healthier....physically, mentally and spiritually
All possible!
